ReThinking Resources

Challenge

The Peel Foundation, a small charity with big ambitions, struggled to expand its capacity and impact due to limited resources and a lack of visibility. The team felt overburdened, and leadership was stuck, despite a belief that solutions could be found within the community.

Solution

Liberating Leaders conducted a four-week engagement process involving guided conversations with stakeholders, residents and local businesses.

Key insights included:

  • Niche Strengths: The charity had a strong but underused niche offering.
  • Overcapacity: Resource constraints hindered innovation and expansion.
  • Community Potential: Untapped local partnerships could enhance capacity and outreach.

From these insights, we developed the ‘Clerkenwell Connections’, a model that preserved the charity’s mission while broadening its reach through partnerships. Actions included:

  • Building a network of local businesses and organisations to support the charity.
  • Establishing mentoring, work experience, and practical support programmes with partners.
  • Designing a compelling narrative to engage new stakeholders.

Results

Within weeks, the charity built a significant network of partnerships, enabling it to extend its reach and services. Key outcomes included:

  • Increased capacity through partnerships with local businesses.
  • A stronger narrative that engaged stakeholders and inspired collaboration.
  • Practical support that addressed immediate needs and built a foundation for long-term growth.

“Blown away by what was achieved—designing a strong new narrative and delivering connections and partnerships far exceeding our expectations, giving us a strong foundation to build from.”

Tom Neumark, Managing Director
